3 photosharing websites where you can get free images for your marketing materials.

It is usually said that a picture is worth 1000 words. As more and more content is being produced online, marketers are being forced to try out as many stategies as possible to win the attention of the average Internet user. Studies do show that the average Internet user scans rather than reads an entire piece. Thus, one of the ways to actually get the user to consume your posts is to pepper with relevant images. This presents a production problem: where should the digital marketer get these images from? Obviously, you can hire a photographer to take shots for you but that is tedious and expensive. In comes photosharing websites. There are commercial photosharing websites out there but on this post we'll look at 3 free ones.

1. Unsplash

Website: https://unsplash.com

The darling of the tech world, Unsplash has grown from a simple Tumblr blog with a $19 premium theme to one of the top photosharing websites in the world. The beauty of this site is that all images are free for use on even commercial projects. But this hasn't gone down well within certain quarters. On the other hand, it has been a boon for hobbyists & professional photographers who are merely seeking for a place to showcase their works.

Unsplash's images come in High Definition. They are clean, well-arranged and are curated by a vibrant community. You can use these images on your posts without any problem. However, just to be fair to the models in some of the images, you could ask the photographer of the image for a model release prior to use.

2. Pixabay

Website: https://pixabay.com

Another major free photos photosharing website. Like Unsplash, Pixabay's users can upload their images on the site allowing anyone to download and use them even on commercial projects. Although the images are varied and not as sharp as those on Unsplash they are good enough for your next marketing project. You can download the photos anonymously. However, there are some accounts that do lock higher resolution images behind registration so you'll need an account just to download.

The site also houses clip art that could be used in creating images for web design purposes.

3. Death to the Stock Photo

Website: https://deathtothestockphoto.com

Not a well-known source for free, high-definition images. The difference with this one is that it requires you to subscribe - rather than sign up - to the service. Every month, the creators refresh the site with new images. If you would like to see more images then you'll need to go premium. Only Premium account holders have access to the 2,000 images library on the site.

Next time when you are searching for a cool image to use as your post's featured image or to add to some social media post look no further than these sites.
